Important Announcement
CGA-Canada
and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) are
pleased to announce that they have renegotiated their degree
partnership agreement effective July 1, 2007. Both
organizations agree that the current partnership has been a
tremendous success. The new agreement allows CGAs and students
to apply for admission to the SAIT degree program until
September 30, 2008. They can enroll and complete required SAIT
courses until September 30, 2014. This will be the final
extension of this distance degree education program.
SAIT works
closely with business and industry to ensure that SAIT students
learn relevant skills upon which to build successful careers. The
SAIT degree offers relevant distance education programming in IT
with an accounting focus in direct response to the needs of
industry. While the degree program is being phased out, SAIT and
CGA-Canada remain dedicated to supporting and accommodating SAIT
degree students, and want to make you aware of revisions to the
program.
SAIT will
continue to offer all courses at the same frequency in the current
schedule. It is anticipated as enrolments decline that course
offerings will gradually be reduced. Advising through SAIT and
the CGA regional offices will be available for students who
require assistance in planning their schedule of studies in order
to complete the degree within the time frame of 2014.
Information
Technology continues to change and so will the SAIT degree
courses. In fall 2006 SAIT moved Directed Field Studies 1 & 2 from
a customized website to WebCT in order to expand communication
with and amongst students, to allow for ease of navigation and to
improve maintenance and support.
During the
current academic year of 2006-07, we are authoring new curriculum
in Internet Applications and Marketing Fundamentals for delivery
in September and December of 2007. CGA Canada and SAIT will
continue to revise courses and textbooks used in the program under
an agreed revision schedule to ensure that students are learning
current and leading edge material.
Effective July
1, 2007 the SAIT degree website at
www.cga-saitdegree.ca will have a new section
added called ‘Program Transition to 2014”. This webpage will act
as a central clearing house for all student and program
information. You can regularly visit the website for up to date
information. FAQ’s will be provided and updated for common
inquiries. You can also email your questions to cga-saitdegree@sait.ca.
You have
chosen an excellent degree program that will add to the accounting
skills you learn in the CGA Program of Professional Studies. The
IT focus of this degree, integrated with the CGA Program allows
students maximum flexibility in one of the fastest routes
available for completion of a degree and a professional accounting
designation.
